I guess you could say that I have many favorite things. Some of these are very random, and some of them are just weird obsessions. I quote John Green when I say “I am in love with cities I’ve never been too, and people I’ve never met.” The world amazes me, and always will. I’m always finding new things that fascinate me, and things to be passionate about. My first favorite thing: the piano. When I was probably seven I showed my first interest in the piano. I took lessons for a while...but it got kind of old for me, so I stopped going. I had them off and on for six years, and haven’t been in them since sixth grade. About six months ago, I just sat down one day, and gave it the chance to come back to me, and it did. I just played my first piece of music in front of a crowd at POPS this year. I played for Logan Benson while he sang. Playing in front of people was nerve wrecking, but wonderful. I then played for competition this year at Bishop-Garrigan High School in Algona. The pieces I played were “The Entertainer” by Scott Joplin and “Farewell to the Piano” by Ludwig Van Beethoven. I had to memorize these songs, and they had to be two minutes and thirty seconds in length....my final time was two minutes and seventeen seconds. I was thirteen seconds off. I wasn’t able to get a one at competition, but I got a two. I have already picked out my pieces for next year and I am so excited. I want to go to college for music. I have a passion for music, and whether that takes me to an audition stage at Julliard, or into a classroom teaching others, I’ll be happy to be there. Another important thing that I quite fancy is anything that is Tiffany Blue, or related to a Tiffany store. I don’t know when this obsession started, but it did. My room has antique silver and accents of Tiffany blue. I also have Audrey Hepburn pictures hanging up in my room, considering she was in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” Anything with a diamond, shine, gray hint, or tiffany blue hint, is most likely in my room. I just absolutely love Tiffany & Co, and the idea of class behind it. I’m a big movie buff, and every day I have a different favorite movie. My top 20 (yes, 20) favorite movies are: 1. Stand by Me 2. The Shawshank Redemption 3. The Breakfast Club 4. Forrest Gump 5. Chasing Mavericks 6. Divergent 7. The Notebook 8. The Green Mile 9. The Shining 10. Any Harry Potter Movie 11. The Great Gatsby. 12. Charlie St. Cloud 13. The Titanic 14. Seven Pounds 15. Dear John 16. The Goonies 17. Now & Then 18. The Last Song 19. The Karate Kid 20. The Time Traveler’s Wife
I just love watching movies, and I love movie trivia. I’m like my dad in the fact that I will listen to the soundtrack of a movie, and research the characters. Movies are one of my favorite things. The 50s & 60s were a time period that I would’ve loved to live in. There is nothing better than going to an oldies restaurant and listening to good music. Some of my favorite music was made in the 50s & 60s. My dad was born in ’56 so he teaches me a lot of stuff. I hope to own a pink cadillac someday. My best friends are people I cherish. I wouldn’t trade them for anything. So this brings me to my next favorite things/people: My friends, and laughing. There is absolutely no better feeling in the world than having a sore stomach from laughing, and when I’m with my friends we sure laugh a lot. I don’t know how we always have so much to laugh about, but it seems like we never stop, and I love it.
